FaithLens
Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 14, 2026
FaithLens is a Christian web app that pairs current news with Bible verses, reflections, prayer prompts, and practical calls to action.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how Google and YouTube data is handled when those features are used.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information needed to operate the service:
- Account information: your name, email address, password hash, city, state or province, country, language, and account preferences.
- Google Sign-In data: if you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier needed to create or access your FaithLens account.
- FaithLens content and preferences: reflection preferences, generated reflections, activity tracking, and support messages you send us.
- Subscription and billing records: subscription status and billing metadata from Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- YouTube publishing data: if you authorize the FaithLens YouTube draft workflow for a team-managed channel, we store the OAuth credentials required to create private video drafts and the resulting draft metadata such as video IDs and review links.
- Technical information: basic logs, device or browser details, and security telemetry needed to keep the service reliable and secure.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To generate reflections based on current news, Scripture, and your selected preferences.
- To manage subscriptions, password resets, and important account communications.
- To provide support, improve reliability, and investigate abuse or security incidents.
- To create private YouTube drafts only when that publishing workflow has been explicitly configured and authorized.
3. Google and YouTube Data
Google Sign-In: We use Google account data only to sign users into FaithLens and maintain their account.
YouTube scope: If a FaithLens administrator authorizes YouTube access for the social-draft workflow, that access is used only to create private YouTube drafts for manual review and publishing.
We do not: sell Google user data, use it for advertising, use it to determine ad audiences, or use Google user data to train generalized AI or machine learning models.
We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except when necessary to provide or secure the service, comply with law, or with your explicit direction.
FaithLens's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate FaithLens, including:
- Google: for Google Sign-In and, when configured, private YouTube draft creation.
- OpenAI: to help generate reflections and metadata. We do not send Google OAuth tokens or YouTube OAuth credentials to OpenAI.
- Stripe: to process subscriptions and payments.
- AWS: to host the application, store files, and securely store secrets.
- Email providers: to send account and operational emails.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who need it to operate FaithLens on our behalf.
- When you direct us to perform an action, such as creating a private YouTube draft.
- To comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect users, FaithLens, or the public.
- As part of a business transfer, if FaithLens is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
6. Data Retention
- We keep account and preference data while your account remains active.
- If you delete your account or send a verified deletion request, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days unless we must retain some records for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons.
- Google Sign-In profile data tied to your FaithLens account is deleted with the account, subject to the same limited legal and security exceptions.
- YouTube OAuth credentials used for the draft workflow are retained only while that integration remains active, and are removed when revoked, rotated, or no longer needed.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls, secure secret storage, and monitoring for suspicious activity. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- You can update your account profile and reflection preferences inside the app.
- You can delete your account through FaithLens or by contacting us.
- You can revoke Google access from your Google account permissions page at any time.
- You can request access to or deletion of your personal data by emailing us.
Deletion instructions are available at faithlens.ca/data-deletion-instructions.
9. Children's Privacy
FaithLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date on this page.
